While I loved my Road King, after 5 years and 40,000 miles, it was getting a little long in the tooth. She had the color, and lines, and the K&N breather combined with the S&S Grand Nationals gave her plenty of “giddy-up.” She’d safely taken me over most of the continent without a real problem. But as they say, never fall in love with a bike.
On the way home from Newfoundland, I pulled into Teddy Morse’s Harley in Daytona. I was open to something new, but I was fine with just heading home on the King. After test-riding the new 2024 Road Glide, I knew there was no way I was leaving without one, and I didn’t.
The 2024 RG is really not your “Daddy’s Harley.” With a 117 cubic inch power plant, traction control, ride modes, digital dash, and new suspension, it’s more like a rocket. In truth, I think it runs and handles more like the BMW or Yamaha sport touring bikes, and that’s with everything still stock. No buyers regret with this whip! 21st-century technology and the fun of the big twins. After 3,000 miles, so far so good.
