Recently I took my son Frank on an 8-day Caribbean cruise with stops in the Dominican Republic, Virgin Islands, and Bahamas. While I’m not faulting our host, Norwegian Cruise Lines, the truth is regardless of the level of service, you’re not going to have a pleasant experience sharing a packed ship with over 4,000 other passengers. Lines for everything, overrun port stops, and constantly competing with the entire social spectrum of guests. From now on, just the Transatlantic point-to-point voyages for me.
We did have a memorable time in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Spent an afternoon at a little bar called Savis with $3 cold beers and English meat pies that were fantastic. Nice stop in the Bahamas as well at the NCL private islands of Stirrup Cay
